Generac (GNRC) surged over 30% after announcing a landmark supply agreement with Amazon (AMZN) to provide backup power generators for AWS data centres. First-tranche deliveries are valued at $2.4 billion, making this one of the largest single procurement contracts in Generac's history and a fundamental repositioning from residential/commercial standby power toward hyperscale AI infrastructure.

This matters enormously for the AI power theme. Data centre power reliability is a critical bottleneck as AI compute density rises — AWS alone is committing $100bn+ to infrastructure capex in 2025. Generac's win validates the secular demand shift and sets a pricing and volume benchmark for the sector.

Winners: GNRC directly; read-through positive for Caterpillar (CAT), Cummins (CMI), and Kohler (private) as competing generator suppliers facing increased RFP activity. Watch Eaton (ETN) and Vertiv (VRT) for adjacent power management upside. AMZN cost-basis rises marginally but secures supply chain.

Watch GNRC's next earnings call for contract delivery phasing, margin guidance on the AWS deal, and whether additional hyperscaler customers — Microsoft, Google — issue competing RFPs.
